The Uncertain Nature of Our Finances

With the abundance of natural resources found in Texas, it’s no surprise that I continue to live here. You might be thinking that is an absurd reason to live anywhere but after living in several states whom have all been incredibly expensive to live in. It’s rather surprising to notice these differences in our states. As someone who is trying to save as much money as possible, I needed to find a place that was going to have a thriving industry in my chosen field of work as well as an infrastructure that would allow me to live cheaply without sacrificing too much.

This is what Texas has been able to provide for me. With great neighborhoods that I can call home, I’ve found an apartment that is over 1,000sqft but under $600 a month! That’s huge: I’ve never lived in a state that ahd such cheap apartments before. At least, apartments that were not somewhere in the lower income end of town (the ghetto, I mean). Compared to, say, Indiana (the state I last called home), I’m saving over $750 a month in rent and utilities alone. My utility bill is $85 cheaper on average; sounds ridiculous, doesn’t it?

For many Americans that $85 can make or break them. I may not be struggling as many other Americans are but I find myself in a situation where losing even $100 a month can drastically alter my financial plan. This is merely the reality of the situation that I have to face and accept. It’s not easy knowing that your financial footing is technically on such fragile ground but with smart planning and clever savings, a lot of stress can be mitigated if not out right avoided entirely. It can be difficult but it can be done if you’re willing to travel.
